David Atnikov - CEO and President
David Atnikov, CA, BComm, has led Novax Industries Corporation as CEO since 1993, having joined the organization as Controller in 1984 from KPMG, Peat Marwick. He was the driving force behind Novax’s leadership position in developing and introducing bus rapid transit – TSP systems – in Canada, as well as state-of-the-art accessible pedestrian systems and Canada’s first traffic adaptive SCOOT systems (in Halifax and Red Deer).
A director of ITS Canada for five years, he was chair of the ITS Canada Export Development Committee. Dave’s vision is to ensure that Novax continues to be a vibrant and inventive organization that is committed to the developing and commercially deploying innovative technological responses to the challenges facing the transportation industry.

Doug Gubbe - VP Customer Care and Applications Engineering
Douglas Gubbe has been with Novax since it’s inception in 1981. Over the years, his creativity and insights into the latest developments in electronics and traffic management have honed Novax’s innovative edge. He directs new product development and leads the customer technical support efforts. He is adept at understanding customer needs and creating customer specific solutions. Doug is possibly the leading authority on accessible pedestrian systems in North America.

Tom Wong, P. Eng., – Director, Engineering
Director of Engineering possessing over 15 years of experience as a multidisciplinary engineering management professional. Professional engineer Province of BC. Holds a B.A.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from the University of British Columbia.

Wayne Gauley, – Software Developer
Wayne holds a Diploma in Computer Electronics. Since he began his career in ‘87 he has been involved in the design and management of numerous networks.

  • Install equipment in and monitor/maintain Transit Signal Priority (TSP) and Transit Signal Preemption (EMV) equipped vehicles in Canada and the USA,
  • Plan network subnetting and configure Wireless Mesh Routers and Backhaul Radios for projects in Canada and the USA,
  • Write software to analyze vehicle movement and stop trends based on NEMA strings received from OEM and Novax Positional Determination Systems,
  • Monitor and maintain Traveler Information System (TIS),
  • Build Linux servers for Transit Signal Priority Systems including Mesh Based Networks - NEMS backend,
  • Install and configure TSP Systems including Nagios proactive network management software,
  • Build and fine tune MySQL database for Transit Signal Priority Applications,
  • Write embedded applications for configuration of PRG and PRS,
  • Administration of a number of FreeBSD servers, Apache servers Sendmail mail, servers,
  • Real time monitoring and proactive management of VoIP servers.

Randall Pfeifer, – Software Developer
Randy brings a considerable experience with on-street ITS product design including development of Advanced Traffic Controller, Malfunction Management, Pedestrian Signal Systems and communications systems and interfacing.
A seasoned ITS Professional and Senior Software Developer specializing in real time embedded firmware with over twenty years experience in all aspects of the development process. Software experience is supported by a background in hardware design. Known for exceptional versatility, problem-solving skills, consistently exceeding expectations and a demonstrated ability to meet aggressive schedules while maintaining a high level of quality and reliability.
